Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 on sale now from $25 - Raspberry Pi #raspberry, #release
It’s become a tradition that we follow each Raspberry Pi model with a system-on-module variant based on the same core silicon. With four RAM options, four Flash options, and optional wireless connectivity, we have a total of 32 variants, with prices ranging from $25 (for the 1GB RAM, Lite, no wireless variant) to $90 (for the 8GB RAM, 32GB Flash, wireless variant).
A new Raspberry Pi model which sounds fantastic. Although it needs an IO board or any other board with a matching connector, so it might not be the every-day board as other Raspberry Pi models.
What does Atlassian's cloud-first model mean for you? #atlassian, #cloud
End of sale for new licenses: To focus on delivering a world-class cloud experience, we will stop selling new licenses for our server offerings and apps.
I was shocked when I received this news. I still can't believe it, as Confluence as well as Jira are perfect tools to run in the own infrastructure and was many times the reason to choose them. Now that this changes we might as well consider to change tooling. It also makes our (VSHN) Managed Atlassian offering obsolete as we can't easily offer custom managed services with Atlassian tools anymore. Of course there still is the datacenter edition, but this is way more expensive.
Times are changing in terms of software licensing anyways. Back then we could buy software licenses without any subscription model, after buying the license the software could be used as long as possible. Nowadays it's hardly possible anymore to buy software licenses, you have to buy monthly or yearly subscriptions and when you don't renew you can't use the app anymore.

Announcing Akri, an open source project for building a connected edge with Kubernetes - Open Source Blog #iot, #edge, #kubernetes
One of the hallmarks of “the edge” in computing is the array of sensors, controllers, and microcontroller unit (MCU) class devices that produce data and perform actions. For Kubernetes to be a versatile edge computing solution, a cluster needs to easily find these leaf devices. Most of these devices, however, are too small to run Kubernetes themselves. How can they be leveraged by a Kubernetes workload? How can a Kubernetes Pod find or access their outputs? Akri is the answer!

40 milliseconds of latency that just would not go away #story, #network, #latency, #kernel, #tcp.
Have you ever tried to optimize a system but found it just would not get any faster than some seemingly arbitrary point? Did it seem like the stuff somehow had an agreement to where it would never deliver results to in less than X milliseconds, even if it was unloaded and had a super-quick network link between the devices?

A modern behavior detection system, written in Go. It stacks on Fail2ban's philosophy, but uses Grok patterns & YAML grammar to analyse logs, a modern decoupled approach (detect here, remedy there) for Cloud/Containers/VM based infrastructures. Once detected you can remedy threats with various bouncers (block, 403, Captchas, etc.) and the blocked IPs are shared among all users to further improve their security.
bit-cloner/kcg: Kubernetes config generator #kubernetes, #kubectl, #kubeconfig
Kubernetes config generator is an interactive command line tool that lets you create kubeconfig files related to a service account in a given namespace. The user can interactively chose a namespace and service account from a K8 cluster. The output is a config file with token authentication that has same RBAC permissions assigned to chosen service account.
